At Raamwerk, sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s embedded in every decision we make. From the materials we choose to the way we manufacture and deliver our frames, our goal is simple: to create high-performance, long-lasting bikes while minimizing waste and maximizing rider freedom.
Here’s how we’re building a more sustainable future for cycling, one frame at a time.
The cycling industry is often driven by mass production, seasonal trends, and surplus stock that eventually goes to waste.
We take a different approach!
1. Built where it makes sense
Our frames are expertly welded in Taiwan, a region known for its precision aluminum frame manufacturing. Instead of overproducing and holding unnecessary inventory, we keep production lean and efficient.
2. Locally finished
Once the frames arrive in the Netherlands, they are powder coated locally, allowing us to only finish what is needed. This means we don’t sit on large amounts of pre-painted stock that could go unsold, reducing waste and excess production.
3. Reusing packaging
The same cardboard boxes that transport frames from Taiwan are repurposed to move them to the coater and then ultimately to the customer. This simple but effective step reduces unnecessary packaging waste and extends the lifecycle of our materials.
4. Sustainability through durability
A truly sustainable bike isn’t just one made with greener materials—it’s one that lasts.
By choosing strong aluminum frames, long-lasting powder coating, and open standards for parts, we create bikes that don’t just perform—but remain reliable for years. This means fewer bikes in landfills, fewer resources wasted, and more time spent riding.
Your right-to-repair with open standards
Many brands lock customers into proprietary components, forcing them to rely on branded replacements and limited options. At Raamwerk, we believe in open industry standards—giving you the freedom to maintain, your right-to-repair, and upgrade your bike on your own terms.
1. No proprietary parts
Standard sizes for bottom brackets, seat posts, and groupsets ensure your bike stays compatible with widely available parts.
2. Easier repairs
If something wears out, you aren’t forced to replace an entire system—you can swap parts freely.
3. Built to upgrade
A Raamwerk frame isn’t disposable; it’s designed to grow with you, adapting as your riding needs evolve.
Sustainable & durable finishing
The way a frame is coated impacts both its longevity and its environmental footprint.
We use powder coating on our framesets as it is one of the most durable and sustainable finishing methods available. Unlike traditional liquid paint, it doesn’t rely on harmful solvents and produces far less waste. It also provides a thicker, more resilient layer, meaning your frame stays protected for longer, reducing the need for frequent refinishing.
